About the Journal
Scientific Sports® is a peer-reviewed journal on scientific sports, published twice yearly by the International Kimwipe Table Tennis Association (KTTA). Since the association was established in 2008, the concept of scientific sports has become widely known in scientific communities. The best known scientific sport is Kimwipe table tennis; micro-pipette darts is also a famous scientific sport.
No rules for the scientific sports have ever been formally established. The association considered the matter carefully and concluded that such rules are to be discussed by the community rather than imposed upon it. Scientific Sports exists to give that discussion a permanent, citable venue: it is the only journal dedicated to scientific sports, and it is open to every scientist and researcher who wishes to take part.
Scope
The journal accepts any type of article as long as it addresses scientific sports. Proposals for rules, insights into how a game should be evaluated, studies of instruments or playing environments, and reports of meetings are all within scope. Work on Kimwipe table tennis is the historical core of the journal, but submissions on any scientific sport are equally welcome.
Publication schedule
Two issues appear each year, on 12 March and 12 September. Volume 1, Number 1 was published on 12 September 2016.
Open access
Every article is freely available in HTML and PDF, without charge, registration or embargo. There are no article processing charges. Authors retain copyright and articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence.
Peer review
Research articles are reviewed by at least one referee with relevant expertise, under a single-anonymised model: referees know the identity of the authors, authors do not know the identity of the referees. Editorials, meeting reports and letters are reviewed by the editor alone and are labelled as such on every page and in the table of contents, so that the reviewed status of any item is never in doubt.
Archiving
Published articles are never withdrawn or silently altered. Corrections are issued as separate, citable notices linked from the original article.
