Rather than viewing this caesura as an indication of inactivity within our scholarly community, we choose to embrace it as a testament to the sheer magnitude and complexity of the research currently being undertaken. It suggests not a dearth of inquiry, but rather a period of deep and protracted intellectual gestation. The kind of paradigm-shifting, methodologically rigorous work to which Scientific Sports has always been dedicated is not, and indeed should not be, a matter of hurried production.
